Stoudemire was 'available for free' this summer

06:12 PM ET 12.21 | The New York Knicks will soon have to figure out how to reintegrate Amar'e Stoudemire once he returns from offseason knee surgery. If it were up to the Knicks, though, things never would have gotten to this point. A New York Times report suggested the Knicks were trying to trade Stoudemire this summer, but found no takers, even though he was "available for free," according to one general manager.

No one is picking up Amare. Most GM's are not foolish to pick up damaged goods.The Knicks must of been willing to take multiple non impact players that they would later most likely drop. I guess that is what they mean "free". If he can be a role player off the bench that would be good.
