07:11 PM ET 12.21 | After serving as an inspiration to his team all season, the road for Colts head coach Chuck Pagano to return has been cleared. According to the Associated Press, Pagano had been cleared to return. "Chuckstrong" was a message you saw all over the Indianapolis Lucas Oil Stadium. And that inspiration has led the Colts to a 9-5 record, second in their division and almost locking in a wild card birth. "Medically, I see no reason he cannot come back when he's ready to try and come back," Dr. Larry Cripe said. "Coach has done a great job with this, and I trust him." If he were to return this weekend, it would be the first time Pagano has been on the sidelines since Sep. 23rd, a loss to Jacksonville. Dr. Cripe said he'd enjoy witnessing his return in person. "I love that guy and I would love to see him in person on the sideline," Cripe said. "To me, the bottom line is that he's done what he needed to do, and he's done it with the clear goal that he wants to be coaching as soon as he can."

Great news to see how well Pagano's recovery has gone. It's been a lot faster than I would have expected.

Although on a football note I don't believe that he should resume his head coaching responsibilities until next season.

He better get in the swing of being a head coach again, because the guy doing it now probably won't be there next year.

Bruce Arians is definitely due a head coaching job, I agree with that.
But when you compare their records:
Colts under head coach Chuck Pagano 1-2
Colts under interim coach Bruce Arians 8-2
Their best chances heading into the playoffs remain with Arians.
Jim Irsay has an interesting off-season ahead of him. The Colts can either enter next season with Chuck Pagano, a head coach who Irsay hand-picked yet as far as football is concerned the jury is still out on. Or he can enter next season with Bruce Arians, a head coach who we know the Colts play well under - but that would involve the PR nightmare of releasing Arians shortly after the city pulled together for him.
If you take emotion out of it Arians is the obvious choice. But the Colts almost have to move forward with Pagano.
