09:11 AM ET 12.22 | New Jersey Governor Chris Christie placed the blame for the continued cancellation of National Hockey League games on league leadership and said the lockout is taking a toll on the state???s largest city. "When you can't have a good relationship with your folks, your labor, three times in a row now to the point where you lose most of or entire seasons, it reflects I think on management," he said. "I mean listen I worked it out with state workers they come to work every day." With the Prudential Center, where the New Jersey Devils play, in the heart of downtown Newark, Christie said he's concerned about the impact no season at all would have on the region.

Doesn't the Rotund Governor have BIGGER things to worry about? Things like .... making sure his citizens have gas, heat, food, water and a roof over their heads for the Holiday Season? Honestly! I smell foot-in-mouth disease!

meaning he thinks Newark could be worse than it already is?

Sandy! Worry about Sandy! The region will be best served if you just take care of what that angry woman left behind, Gov.

As long as there is a Pancake House or an All-U-an-eat Buffet opened somewhere in the Garden State, the Gov is smiling.

Have another donut Chrissie. After that hurricane you think he would be worried about other things.

On Boxing Day, I'll be more interested to see the team Canada has assembled for the Spengler Cup...Tavares, Spezza, Seguin, Bergeron, Duchene, etc.

I just don't think my squareheaded junior relatives will be much of a test!

He has worried about it. I am sure he can spend 5 minutes talking about the NHL. I live in the state and he has done a pretty darn good job here. Tells it like it is. I don't think the few minutes he talked about this effected the state negatively.

Nice to hear about a decent politician for a change...

You're probably right but it's going to be a great Christmas with lots of hockey!!!!! Bettman and the owners can pound it!

It has been a lot worse. A decade ago crime was much worse than it was. And the area around the arena has been built up, but if the Devils are gone all year those businesses will suffer because they cater to the people coming into watch the games, not the people who live a mile away...
Granted if anyone wants to move to NJ, i can recommend a few places just a tad nicer than Newark.
