06:55 AM ET 12.23 | With Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli having departed, the Rangers are looking ahead to their next challenge -- trying to extend shortstop Elvis Andrus' contract before he hits free agency in two years. One guess at the package necessary is four years, $72 million.

Or, like every other Ranger lately, he'll end up elsewhere.

If you are going to pay 18 million a year for a ss Mr. GM but didn't want to pay your star center fielder to keep him in Arlington these kind of transactions will eventually cost you your job.

wonder WHY the halos trade morales away?? boras its the agent and the player would be a free agent after next season, a hefty contract its expected but won't be halos problem..

72 millions its a little too stiff as it is, the rangers should think what measure to take in the next weeks,,,

Can't trade Andrus even up for Ellsbury then because he has Boras as well.

the rangers aren't going either way not forwards neither backwards, where is the wisdom when needed? i mean the GM can't find the right method to solve rangers lineup puzzle,,

can't trade andrus for ellbury but they can trade derek holland if they wanted, or does holland's agent its boras??

December 23, 2012  10:24 PM ET

i know, i understand, ellbury agent its greedy boras, but rangers could trade ellsbury at mid-season for prospects,,, for now trade derek holland and get ellsbury for a 3 months in the outfield,,,

Don't think Andrus is worth that kind of money, Dickey would have been a better option!!!
