07:31 AM ET 12.23 | If you don't like the Mavericks' situation at point guard, wait a minute. It'll change, just like it did again Saturday. And the ripple effect is going to touch a lot of players, including a new one. Derek Fisher and the team mutually agreed to part ways. Fisher cited family concerns, and the Mavericks knew that was a possibility when they signed the wily veteran Nov. 29. What that means for the Mavericks is their three young players at point guard ??? Darren Collison, Dominique Jones and Roddy Beaubois ??? will get plenty of opportunities. And a potential point-forward is on the way to help. Chris Douglas-Roberts, who has been torching the NBA Development League to the tune of 22.5 points per game, will be signed by the Mavericks to take Fisher's spot on the roster. Douglas-Roberts, a 6-7 swingman, also is averaging 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 11 games for the Texas Legends in Frisco. He's shooting 49.4 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from 3-point range. What intrigues the Mavericks is that Douglas-Roberts has a flair for getting into the paint and making plays either for himself or others, particularly off the pick-and-roll sets the Mavericks use.

When he was with Utah he wanted to be released for family reasons which at the time were legit. His daughter had some form of eye cancer. If he was concerned about this family this time, who twisted his arm to sign with the Mavs? I respect that he's a family man but he knew they would be separated when he signed with Dallas.

Derek Fisher and the team mutually agreed to part ways...
...is what I read in this article. I don't see why the conclusions are that DFish is the only one willing to say goodbye. In fact, it sounds like the Mavericks are happy about his departure which makes room for their D-League savior. Nor did I see anything regarding the Lakers reuniting with him.
That's cause ya'll a bunch of Lakers haters..Don't you cats see this? Eli!
