08:29 AM ET 12.23 | Myck Kabongo, the Longhorns point guard who was suspended for 23 games by the NCAA on Friday, did not have a trip to Cleveland in May paid for by an agent, an attorney for the University of Texas said Saturday. Yahoo! Sports originally reported that the NCAA was investigating Kabongo having the trip paid for by an agent, which would have compromised his eligibility. But Patricia Ohlendorf -- the university's vice president for legal affairs -- told the American-Statesman that part of that trip was paid for by Tristan Thompson -- a former Texas player and a longtime friend of Kabongo's -- and that another part was paid for by a friend of a former university employee who had access to discount plane tickets. Kabongo paid that person back for the ticket, Ohlendorf said. Kabongo's difficulty with the NCAA came because he "accepted airfare, personal training instruction and then provided false and misleading information during two separate interviews with university officials," according to a statement by the NCAA.
