USC QB situation moves to unsettled

07:42 AM ET 12.24 | A clock is ticking for the Trojans and quarterback Matt Barkley. Will [Barkley] be ready to play in the Dec. 31 Sun Bowl against Georgia Tech? The situation remains murky. Over the past couple weeks, Coach Lane Kiffin consistently said he expected Barkley to play. But Kiffin did some minor back-pedaling Saturday when asked about Barkley's status. Barkley suffered a sprained shoulder Nov. 17 against UCLA, an injury that can take up to two months to fully heal. Barkley has attended practices but has not participated at all since his injury. "We're going to look at it when we get down there (to El Paso, Texas), and see if he can practice," Kiffin said. USC won't practice again until Wednesday in El Paso.

I am on the fence on this one. He absolutely deserves to go out on the field, and not on the sidelines. On the other hand, would also like to see Wittek take another step towards taking over for the future. Tough call.

U$C could probably put an O-lineman in at QB, and still beat GT. Lee will TRAMPLE that defense if the Trogans can put the ball into his hands.

I'm a big , big Barkley and USC fan, but really, what's the point of playing against another second rate southeast team, with nothing at stake, but your whole career ahead of you?
C'mon Matt, you came back to help LAME Kiffen save his job and you did as much as you could, but he did nothing to help you win the Heisman or at least the PAC 12 title. You have everything to lose and you and the team have absolutely nothing to win. What are they gonna do, give you a free Sonata if you do well. Yea right!!!!!!

I would too, except for being totally humiliated when you play a good team in a bowl.
Notre Dame is going to play the team that matches up with a top ranked team. That's when you find out your run of good luck brought you to a very dark place. Although maybe Bama's plane will crash on the way to the game.
