Are the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl contenders?

11:01 PM ET 12.24 | The Seattle Seahawks are white hot after blowing out division rivals 49ers, and the question has quickly become will they ever come back to earth? Right now the Seahawks are without a doubt the hottest team in the NFL and after clinching a playoff berth, they're about to go nuclear. At least Seahawks fans hope so. It's hard to be a Pacific-Northwest team and get notoriety in an sports world obsessed with the East coast. But after putting up more than 150 points in the last three games, Seattle is starting to gain national attention just in time for everyone's playoff predictions. Each year we hear all the pundits rave about how all it takes is for a team to get hot to make a run to a title. The 2010 Packers did it, both New York Giants teams that won Super Bowls are examples of this phenomenon and the Patriots virtually invented the trend in the early 2000s. Are the Seahawks the next incarnation of this championship model?

Blah, blah, blah. The Seasquirt bandwagon fans come out in full force now. Win something first and then you can brag all you want. And find something unique to call your fool selves. The 12th Man belongs to the Aggies. Loudest noise I ever heard from those fans was in the old Kingdome when the Squirts were getting beat by Montana and KC but the fans were cheering a Cowboys score. (Yes, Dallas was getting beat). Sheesh, Wilson is hot now but he'll have the Sophomore Slump/ Cam Newton next year.

Good point!!! If the Hawks play defense like they have been, then they have a very good shot at making it deep into the playoffs. Green Bay or Altanta might give them trouble come playoff time . Another thing, Seattle plays good at home, but they will have to start the playoffs on the road, if the Niners win this coming weekend!!!

Yes they're contenders and yes the refs are out of their minds. Goodell must be paying them per flag thrown. Most of the flags are in the secondary, I guess that's where they think the most concussions are coming from.

Duuuude, have you seen the Seabags play this year. They're taking things seriously. Green Bay is still trying to sort things out and Atlanta has only beat two playoff teams all year.
