08:04 AM ET 12.25 | Raiders starting quarterback Carson Palmer is out -- but who's in for Dennis Allen? Veteran Matt Leinart and second-year player Terrelle Pryor will be considered for the starting job against the Chargers, Allen said. Leinart relieved Palmer [Sunday] and completed 16 of 32 passes for 115 yards with one interception. Pryor played three snaps. "Our plan right now is to work both of them this week," Allen said, "and then we'll see how practice goes. Later in the week, we'll be ready to name a starter." Palmer started the first 15 games this season and passed for 4,018 yards and 22 touchdowns with 14 interceptions. He joined Rich Gannon as the only Raiders to pass for 4,000 or more yards in a season. Allen called Pryor "a work in progress."

At least Oakland didn't have to give up much for Leinart, no one wanted him so he came to Oakland at not much cost to the team, We all know what it cost the Raiders to get Palmer, and even Pryor came at a cost. Giving up those picks for Palmer was a stupid move by the Raiders.

A good kid? He was the catalyst for the sanctions against Ohio State. Yea, Tressel was at fault, but it was because he was covering for Pryor's stupidity. Nothing good about the kid.

Right. He's the only *student athlete* ever to receive improper monetary or monetary-equivalent benefits while in college. The whole NCAA program should be disbanded and let the schools operate pro minor leagues.
