Nowitzki questions Mavs basketball IQ

08:12 AM ET 12.25 | On the upside, Dirk Nowitzki returned over the weekend. But when your team falls behind by 46 points and loses by 38, the night can't be described as a success. "That's encouraging for me, but as a team we've got a long way to go," Nowitzki said. "We're not very good defensively right now. I think that's obvious. Offensively, our decision-making is horrible." ... Dallas closes out 2012 with a Dec. 30 home game against [the] Spurs, who made 20-of-30 3-point attempts Sunday. "We just weren't quick enough on defense," Nowitzki said. "Our coverages were screwed up left and right. Our basketball IQ obviously went down with J-Kidd (leaving). That's pretty obvious." Recall that Nowitzki made a similar statement after Steve Nash was let go in free agency.

any chance he would trade dirk to houston they need a 4 :D

December 25, 2012  09:36 AM ET

I would question Dirk's IQ if he didn't question the teams IQ.

He should be questioning Cuban's IQ.Bringing in Laker trash instead of maintaining his Championship crew was cheap and stupid.Happy Holiday, Fannation.Lob City!!!

The man is not cheap. Are you kidding me? You've got so much hate for cubes you can't even make real arguments anymore. You're one of those haters who doubted the mavs would ever win anything, and now you think you know better than the mavs front office. Pshhh please shutup.

Like I said the other day. The problem with this team is simple. Our PG's are scrubs. We have nobody that can deliver the ball to players in their sweet spots. Collison can't make a crunch time pass, can't drive the lane, can't make a jump shot. Dojo can drive, to a fault! Beaubois has progressively gotten worse every year. For god's sake make a trade. Maybe you can get Calderon or something.

He let Chandler walk, that was the comment she was referring to.

They offered Chandler a giant 1 year contract. Lets get the facts straight. Chandler went for security. There was nothing cheap about it.

And if you think you can just take chandler, kidd, replace melo for dirk and win a championship, you've got a rude awakening coming.

Poor Dirk, Cuban screwed with him. You would think after all he did for the Mavs, Cuban would open the wallet and give him another shot at defending the title. smh

I enjoyed my Spurs destroying Cuban's Mavericks. How do you like them apples Mark?

December 25, 2012  02:25 PM ET

Yeah, this is the guy they had to shut down for ten days 20 games into last season because he wasn't in shape. Preach.

December 25, 2012  03:54 PM ET

Merry Christmas FOOLS!!!

The bottom line is that Dirk is not what he used to be and the Mavs are just a bunch of cast offs. Mark Cuban took a championship team and just let the better players go. Tyson Chandler was their best player and he signed some lame player to a big contract and then used the amnesty on him this year. Cuban is a joke.
