Draft on chopping block?

08:30 AM ET 12.26 | After a CBA was hammered out in 2005, the NHL held a lottery to determine a draft order, but how might a lost season affect the upcoming draft? "Anybody who says they have a clue, they're lying," said Al Murray, Tampa Bay Lightning's head of amateur scouting who was working for the Los Angeles Kings in 2004-05 when the league shuttered its doors for the entire season. ... But what happens this time if there's no collective bargaining agreement and the lockout drags out into the summer? That could mean there's no entry draft, period. The 2013 draft is scheduled for the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on June 28-29. "There can't be a draft without a CBA. That's one of the things collectively bargained," said [former NHL GM Craig Button].

No matter what happens Edmonton will end up with the 1st overall pick.

And it would probably continue this way until Bettman decides Pittsburgh needs another No 1 overall pick

I don't know GM, the Butt-plug owes Jacobs so he'll probably be on tiptoes kissing Boston ass for a while.

Come on, you know that the Bruins have earned their number one picks the old fashioned way.
They steal them from Toronto.

Other than a few well placed kisses to Jacob's pucker hole, he doesn't have to do the Bruins any other favors. His Irksome buddy is taking good care of that.

My new conspiracy is that Buttmunch made his bff Burke give Boston the world for Kessel in return for his support during the lockout.
Yup. That's gotta be what happened.

Top 3 IMO.....Toronto would most certainly take the #1...but seeing how Burke hates taking those top 3 picks he'd trade it to Boston.

When are you gonna realize he has no weight. The BoG has the weight and the rich owners have the pull.... If an orginal 6 team like the rangers has no say in anything and the maple leafs seem to have no pull what is mario supposed to do.... There has probly been plenty of opinions stated by various owners, but until the BoG gets on board and tells Gary that what they want they will remain nothing more then opinions. Mario is probably in the worst spot because of the fact he was on the other side of the negotiations for years.

Not really. Let's face it, Mario is a very wealthy man compared to you and I, but in the world of NHL team owners he doesn't have a pot to piss in. His partner Ron Burkle (the money behind the operation) is more likely fully on board with the league's stance in this fiasco and Mario's silence speaks volumes about his position as well.

Too bad we can't get every NHL fan to go on strike next season. Let the NHL and players see how it feels to be treated like crap.

I just got really tired of the Butt-plug.

I keep reading on quite a few sites how fans think the players are too blame. I can see some validity with that argument but the legacy,if you can call it that, is 3 lockouts. That alone, along with his obsession with failing markets is a disgrace..
