02:53 PM ET 12.26 | Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis is eligible to return to game action but will not play in Week 17 against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach John Harbaugh on Wednesday afternoon. Lewis has been attempting to return to action since tearing his triceps against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6. The 37-year-old linebacker was placed on the injured reserve list with a designation to return and was able to participate in practice starting on Dec. 5. However, he has not played in a game since sustaining the injury.

I still say the play all along was to save Lewis for the playoffs. They only brought him back when they did to satisfy the requirements of the new injury rule.

Indeed. If they let him blow off a little steam in an Atlanta club on New Year's Eve he should be ready for the playoffs.

Maybe they can use Ray Lewis for security. After all, it's not like he hasn't handled weapons and killed before ...
