Giants jobs on the line

08:04 AM ET 12.27 | What a difference a year makes for Big Blue. When you play in a Super Bowl and win it, and a year later you are asked by your head coach to make the season finale a Pride Bowl, you better wake up and recognize that there isn't only a season on the line, but jobs as well. Tom Coughlin's last-gasp appeal for Pride, Honor and Dignity Sunday against the Eagles sounds more like a whistle in the dark now that there is so little playoff light at the end of the Big Blue tunnel. These 2012 Giants have authored another unacceptable collapse. ... [Big Brother] will be watching, and watching closely, and if they cannot summon the Pride, Dignity and Honor the organization expects from them every season, then they do not deserve to be Giants.

And the rest of the league breathes a sigh of relief. Giants need to look at the coaching staff as well as the players. They had the talent to do a lot better, but their offense was too predictable and the defense too vanilla much of the season.

Be careful about putting Coughlin on the hotseat. He tends to win Superbowls when he's sitting there.

I disagree. Not that talented in too man places. OL, LB, DBs are all less than average. did the coaching staff somehow get stupid in less than a year? You can guess half the plays any team runs in any game, the problem is stopping them and/or executing the plays you run.

Matters not, there will be changes and lots of them. And there should be.

Did the writer mistake last year for the real thing? It was a 9-7 team that got unbelievably hot at the seasons end. Eli and Cruz and many others played the best football of their lives. As a Giants fan I enjoyed every second of it, but never did I think this was some dynasty in the making. It was a gift, earned, but certainly not trend setting.

Time to clean out the coaches. Offense is predictable, defense is flat cant stop anybody. O line help is needed, time to part with Osi and Tuck and bring up the young ends that we have. Tackles that can stop the run in the middle. Corey Webster and TT need to find a new home as well.

Excellent post 50. everything clicked at the right time last year, as fans we need to savor the moment, it is really hard to repeat in this league.

You got it. It is a league set up to surprise you every year. It rewards the lousy through the draft and with scheduling and if you develop good players you cap out trying to keep them. Enjoy it all, the good and the bad or you will be greatly disappointed most of the time.
