Wade fires back at Barkley

08:06 AM ET 12.27 | Just about everywhere else -- other than an NBA arena, that is -- Dwyane Wade would be considered a young man. Through the first month-plus of the season, Wade's uneven performances had some questioning whether he'd ever be the same dynamic, athletic player who could seemingly score and draw fouls at will. It all came to a head when Charles Barkley said Wade was "starting to lose his talent." ... Wade said he used Barkley's comments as fuel. But more important, Wade's health is finally coming around after offseason knee surgery. And that's where his annoyance with Barkley's comments derived. "If I say it didn't bother me, I'd be lying," Wade said. "I think what bothers me more than someone saying it -- because a lot of people say things -- is why. What's the reason?"

Dwade should not listen to anyone, keep his focus on the prize. The key is to get and STAY healthy and be ready to attack the rim in the playoffs.

Dwade has to pick and choose his spots to attack the rim in the regular season because scrubs are looking for a chance to derail him.

He should continue to pace himself, play defense and knock down a few jumpers every now and then and he will be fine.

Teams should pay Barkley as a motivational speaker.

That was cheap and dirty shot DWade. Why aren't you growing up? I won't be surprise if he doesn't get fined or suspended...

You won't be surprised?? Then you don't know the league. Wade has been protected and encouraged by the league w/o which that first ring was never his!!!

I WOULD be surprised if they suspend. Now if it were Stephen Jackson or Artest kicking, a 5 game suspension would be coming down within 24 hours.

But all players know. Wade is dirty.

I think it's appropriate to use one of Charles' sayings here;

"The Heat (particularly Wade & James) are whiny and annoying."

That first ring not his?? Are you high?

Say what you will about his antics...but, the HEAT, along with Wade, won that title in 2006.

I do recall a guy named Pat Riley, maybe you have heard of him, coaching that team? I also recall a future HOF Center by the name of Shaquille O'Neal playing on that team too??

Wade owned the Mavs in that series and they won, period.

Bozo.

Wade is getting back to full health and he is also not the #1 option on that team any longer.

Add those 2 together and you have a different player, period.

I would rather Wade play 28m per night and average 20 per game but be 100% healthy come playoff time, than Wade shooting to get to 25ppg and have a bum knee like last season.

Miami won that title with Bosh hurt and Wade hobbled....

God help the league if they are 100% healthy come then.

Lastly, Wade should just show Barkely a picture of the 2 rings he has in reply.

That will end all talk.

LMAO.

I'm just going to ask you one time to not resort to name calling. That's really cheap and any fool can do that.

Debate respectfully, or don't debate at all.

If you ACTUALLY think the league doesn't take sides and does not have marketing ahead of anything else, the laugh is on you!!. Just wait till some other team (likely OKC) will be the NBA's darling, and you'll see Wade or James or the so-mentioned Pat Riley that I've never heard of, not getting ANY calls.

The reverse is true as well. Either of them leave, no more championships.

John Salley and Adam Morrison have rings.

December 27, 2012  02:48 PM ET

Barkely's talent was underneath about 20-30lbs of fat, so who is he to talk about one's potential talent?

December 27, 2012  02:54 PM ET

I guess I'm confused by this article. Wade basically agrees with Barkley and says he can't play the game the way he used to.

Yeah, it is still in his nature to attack the rim as he says, but he also says he isn't going to dunk as much?

In the end, because he is playing second fiddle to LeBron, he probably added a few more yeards to his career.

Not sure why this is controversial.

When content is less than the substance=it is now time to divert your extracurricular hours away from watching jumping tattoos in the air and perform some constructive activities in your own life rather than trying to understand, condone and emulate the morons of the NBA.
