08:10 AM ET 12.27 | Colby Lewis has made a good deal of progress since his flexor tendon surgery. The original plan was for Lewis to be ready in June but he's already started a throwing program and there's a chance he could return to the mound earlier than that. ... In addition to the progress Lewis has made, Texas is also pleased with where Neftali Feliz is in his rehab. He had Tommy John surgery in July and is still on target for a post All-Star break return to the club. "Nefty is doing well," Daniels said. "He's coming into Arlington in a couple of weeks to get checked up by (team doctor Keith) Meister and then will report out in Arizona to continue his rehab. Everything's on schedule at this point."

.....rangers will stay close and figure out the gaps by trade deadline....with boost from feliz and lewis to the bullpen down the stretch, fully loaded from no winter ball action, they pull a couple trades to bloster the team and finally win thier fist world series....darvish is league mvp...

They still need to pull the trigger on the Upton trade for Elvis to help bolster their offense.

It will be 2014 before Feliz is completely healthy and back to his old self.

colby lewis doing good, neftali feliz should be ready by next fall!!

aside from this two pitchers, the rangers do have plenty arms availabe in the minors, should the rangers worried about the rotation next season??? kyle lohse still available,,

Its all about the pitching ... just look at SF.

although I would like to see this happen ... I'm not as hopeful as you. Darvish will be good, Harrison decent and so will Lewis when he comes back, Ogando back in the starting lineup and maybe Holland can pull a 2011 ... Feliz is still a question mark. The Rangers did nothing to address the woeful pitching of last year and who is in the lineup until Feliz and Lewis come back? Loss of power of Hamilton will not help and AJ will not provide that type of power ... nor will Bourne or the others they've looked at ... so we shall see ...

Im hoping the kids come up from the minors (Mike Olt, Leonys Martin, Jurickson Profar)and tear it up.

I'd be more than happy to place money against this bet.

They need all the pitching they can get their hands on!

there are still a few free agents in the market,,,

December 27, 2012  05:59 PM ET

pitching has been the biggest problem for the halos, but the rangers DO HAVE plenty good arms in their minor league, angels are the totally opposite in this pitching needs!!!

December 27, 2012  06:01 PM ET

rangers have, morrinson, colby lewis/darvish/ ogando/derek holland/ by bringin kyle lohse the team would close their case, not that they need another starter but and extra pitcher its always wellcome on any team!!

December 27, 2012  06:06 PM ET

about angels pitching?? they have jered weaver/CJ wilson/ vargas/ richards/ aside from this starters, the hanson trade is a gamble due to the injuries and the minimise in MPH drop/ blaton could go either way he either pitch conssistently or just be a irrelevant pitcher, the closer issue would continue been a unfinish business IF madson fail to remain healthy in the 2013 season,,,

December 27, 2012  08:39 PM ET

there could be a three teams trade,,,rangers likely trade OLT and PROFAR and 3 more prospects to the marlins for giancarlo stanton, and logan morrinson, then the rangers would turn and trade logan morrinson to the dodgers for a starter and 2 prospects as well,/the rangers need outfielders availability and pitchers WHO could backup the rotation, this trade would benefit the 3 teams involved!!!

December 27, 2012  08:43 PM ET

after that, the rangers should trade ANDRUS either for ELLBURY or JUSTIN UPTON, whichever takes the tempted offer, likely the d'backs would want more than just ANDRUS, should rangers offer LOGAN MORRINSON and ANDRUS for JUSTIN UPTON TRADE??

December 27, 2012  08:46 PM ET

well this trade fisrt has to be considered by both teams, the marlins and the rangers, rangers NEED to pull this trade and if to be able to bring stanton and logan morrinson to the rangers, the texas most trade profar and Olt and 3 prospects along to the marlins in order to complete this trade, should marlins resist this offer??
