04:24 PM ET 12.27 | The Brooklyn Nets' decision to fire Avery Johnson may not have been as sudden as many anticipated. The Nets' coach was in the final year of his contract and craved an extension, according to a Yahoo! Sports report. Given the Nets' early struggles and Johnson's own "amazing ability to irritate everyone," the Nets decided to let him go, writes Adrian Wojnarowski.
