08:04 AM ET 12.28 | There was a time when expectations for a rookie quarterback were low -- but Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson and Robert Griffin III have, instead, raised them. The success of those three rookie quarterbacks who exceeded expectations have magnified Jake Locker's struggles in his first season as an NFL starter. The Titans (5-10) are 3-7 with Locker under center, and his numbers down the stretch have stirred up more questions than answers about his future. "It's not how I would've wished they had gone," the second-year pro said Wednesday. "But there are a lot of positives to be taken from it, and a lot of things that you can learn from and grow from to make you better going forward."

He is what he is... A backup.

In today's NFL you either show it right away or it's not going to happen. It's expected that a QB come out of college ready to go..not to hold a clipboard for two years and watch.

Locker didn't go to U$C, but he sure plays like he did. Must be a west coast thing.

I never understood what the Titans saw in Locker to draft him so high. He had a 10-21 record as a starter for the Huskies, a pass completion percentage of 53.9%, and only threw 53 TD passes in 4 yrs.

To be fair, the Titans' O line this year has been a mess of injuries and ineffectiveness. But I do not think he's the answer.
Notice last year, with Hasselback starting, they were 9-7 and almost made the playoffs. This year, mostly the same team, they suck out loud.

It was definitely a reach. I suspect the owner had a hand in it, much like he did for Vince Young.

That is what is wrong with a lot of the NFL teams the owners think they know more about drafting players, what plays to call, and who should be the starting QB, and this results in another losing season.

Can't lay a lot of blame at his feet. The Titans have no offensive line. His best receiver is a pain in the butt to deal with. He played for some talentless teams in college so his stats and development are both screwed up. Locker probably won't be a world beater but he should have sat for two years. they could have used him in emergencies only but they spent a lot of money and wanted a quick return. Titans screwed themselves on this one.
