Laich: Lost season 'an absolute disgrace'

08:24 AM ET 12.28 | From here, there are really only two paths. The two sides will soften their positions and agree to play a shortened season, or they will continue to stand on principle and see the league shut down for the second time in eight years. "The NHL is the only one of the four major sports in North America to ever lose a season to a lockout," [Brooks Laich] said. "I don't know how we can possibly do that twice in eight years. I cannot understand or fathom the idea of losing two seasons in eight years. That would be an absolute disgrace. It would be a terrible black eye on the sport of hockey and I think it would have a tremendous ripple effect from diehard fans to kids, especially in non-traditional hockey markets."

a couple of things caught my eye here;
1) Brooks Laich's keen insight
2) "..they will continue to stand on principle"? Really/ And exactly what principle is it these two clowns and their minions are standing on? The principle of who is a more stubborn jackwagon?

AxelMumford, the players come and go. The team is what stays and the owners give you that team. They also provide you with every single thing that happens off the ice, and between periods. Entertainment, the game experience, concessions, merchandise. On top of that, they're the ones paying staff to give all that to you.

As for the ridiculous contracts, not every owner is offering those. It's a small contingent of owners that screw everyone else over. The new CBA is a chance for correcting what's wrong. Those contracts are one thing that is very wrong with the NHL. In order for the correction to take place it has to be on paper otherwise it's considered collusion, but the players don't want that correction.

For the players to fight for contracts over 5 years when very few of them even get contracts of 5 years or more is pathetic. They've thrown the 3rd and 4th liners under the bus, stolen their paychecks and cost the fans another month of hockey simply to protect the multi-millionaires.

If there were less teams the product would stand on its own and we wouldnt need a clown show during intermission.

"The NHL is the only one of the four major sports in North America"

Thanks to inept management, there are only 3 major leagues in North America. Bettman and Jacobs are counting on fan stupidity once this is over. They will simply pretend it never happened. It will be hard to watch knowing those two pinheads are still wallowing at the bottom of the cesspool.

Morning all!!!!!

"Laich: Lost season 'an absolute disgrace'"

Well, Brooks, the way I see it, you've made it a disgrace the day you and the NHLPA decided to hire the Fehrer to represent you. I hope you're happy with the results.
