12:49 PM ET 12.28 | With the bottom having already fallen out of the New York Jets 2012 season, head coach Rex Ryan is reportedly not opposed to getting fired if owner Woody Johnson doesn't put money into making significant changes to the team's pitiful offense. According to a report by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News on Friday, a team source said that unless Johnson absorbs and spends some money -- possibly beginning by parting ways with Tony Sparano and finding a new offensive coordinator -- Ryan believes it could be in his best interests to get fired and wash his hands of the entire mess in New York.

The J-E-T-S should just bypass the part where they throw a bunch of money at the problem to fix it, and just get to the hand-washing part.

As ugly as this season has been for the Jets the upcoming off season could be even uglier.

More finger-pointing. Or is it toe-pointing? Whatever.
Blaming the season on the owner is one pretty good way to get fired, though.

As much as I would Love to see Rex Fired (all the while Praying he doesn't end up on TV) - Tannenbaum has to be the 1st to Go

The J-E-T-S whole season has been one example of bad decision-making after another, from both the GM and the HC. Keeping either or both of them around only keeps the door open for more of the same next season.

True...
But I doubt Woody is gonna clean house totally (Not saying he shouldn't)...
New GM, maybe New OC, and Rex on a very short Andy Reid (2012) type leash.

Are we talking about the mess he helped create ?

Tony Sporano didn't pick himself for the job.

You raise a good point. If Rex is going to be on double-secret probation in 2013, how many reputable OCs would be willing to work for Rex for maybe one season (and coaching a QB who likely isn't on the roster yet), when they could work multiple seasons for a team that wasn't this close to being a rebuilding project?

Because we saw how well that worked out for the Eagles this year?

I am sure Sexy Rexy would love to wash his hands of the mess HE created and blame someone else...

I think it was earlier this season that Rex remarked that if he had the team Norv was coaching, he'd have won a Super Bowl by now. I think Norv would be a gentleman and politely decline any offer Rex might make.

So far I count the owner and the OC already under the bus.

Rex knows where all the skeletons are buried and he also knows that there's no digging out of the mess HE created regardless of how much money Woody throws his way or what people he can replace. It's a top to bottom culture problem that needs to be completely changed. REX IS NOT THE GUY WHO IS CAPABLE OF DOING THAT (and he knows that). He would love to get fired because he'd still get paid and he wouldn't have to be responsible for fixing the mountain of mistakes he made. Train wreck......

Rex isnt a HC !!! then was caught lying about Tebow not wanting to play at all...according to Tebow that he felt he shouldve started at qb not at the wildcat position. Kerly did a great job threw a TD!
