12:53 PM ET 12.28 | The NFL has fined Cam Newton $21,000 for bumping referee Jerome Boger in Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders. Midway through the forth quarter Newton lost his cool following a hit he perceived to be late by Raiders' safety Mike Mitchell. After failing to get a flag, he yelled at the official, ultimately bumping Boger, and drew a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. The on-field microphone caught Newton asking to speak to the referee after the game where he apologized for his actions.

Sounds like he lost his head (in a very unacceptable way) and realized it almost immediately, which is a huge improvement over the Cam of a few years ago.

We'll see. I still think he's got a long way to go on the maturity front. He's had such a privileged life so far that he'll probably never learn to handle adversity.

He's lucky he didn't get fined for kicking Tommy Kelly in the head.

The Raydahs made it as plain as day they were trying to injure Cam and get him out of the game. Kelly should have been kicked in the head...along with every Raydah fan!

Yeah. They made it so plain that not one Raider was fined for trying to 'injure' Cam...

In fact, the only player fined in the game was Cam.

Yeah. AFTER Palmer was speared in the back cracking his ribs.

Words are one thing, actions are another. You have no actions to cite, only words.

"You don't ever want to see your quarterback get put out of the game," Kelly said, according to the Chronicle. "So, personally, we try to put their quarterback out of the game. You don't try to do nothing illegal, but you see someone put your quarterback out, it kind of makes you want to put theirs out."

You mean this? Where he only speaks of "wanting" to do something and specifically says "nothing illegal"?

Gotta point there...

Why'd the Panther fan get deleted? He was a homer and wrong about Newton, but didn't do anything worthy of deletion.

Must have been on another thread because he did nothing wrong here. Except being wrong.

Ah well. I was looking forward to his retort. Guess I won't get one.
