07:51 PM ET 12.28 | There was growing drama on the bayou as to whether or not the New Orleans Saints would be able to work out a new contract with head coach Sean Payton before the NFL's deadline. But all worries can be put to bed, as both sides have agreed on a multi-year deal that will keep Payton in New Orleans for the foreseeable future. Some said that Dallas would be the best destination for Payton and many "experts" had him going there this offseason. But in all the chaos, one thing was glazed over: Sean Payton's undying loyalty to the Saints and to the players he's coached for so many years. A deal was going to be worked out, it was just a matter of when. But now that it's a done deal, Saints fans can breath easy. Many are attributing Payton's absence with the poor season New Orleans has endured, but this is the beginning of putting that all in the past.

Such a big contract, you could call it a "bounty" of riches for Payton.

How can only one side come to an agreement? Sounds like something out of a Barack Obama wet-dream.
