08:03 AM ET 12.29 | While Jeff Van Gundy may ultimately have interest in the Brooklyn Nets opening, he will be unwilling to meet with team officials while an interim coach is in place, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Brooklyn has yet to start contacting candidates as part of a search to replace Avery Johnson, who was fired on Thursday. The Nets promoted assistant coach P.J. Carlesimo to interim head coach for the immediate future.

Jeff, I peg you to be a bit brighter than your brother Stan, the moron, but it seems as though you've learned from him. As the previous poster (AC Blue) said, "what do you expect them to do?" Play without a head coach. This is a completely mindless tactic, the sorts of brother Stan, and to think, as well as you represented the Knicks during your tenure, I never peg you go to a second rate outfit such as the Nets. This is as moronic as when you covered Stanee Boy during the Magic finals appearance when you moronically ignored co anaylst Mark Jackson asked him why was brother Stan playing a recently injured and outta shape Jameer Nelson instead of Rafer Alston, Jeff then proceeded to look rather clueless and dumbfounded by his bother's ridiculus coaching. Jeff, of course, was rather speechless needless to say. Shutty! Apple!

Seems to me that he is saying that he does not want to talk to the team, if Carlisimo is under the impression that he can, perhaps, earn the job. I think the posters here are misinterpretting his words.

If this story is true, the only thing I can think is how great it would be if management could say to a coach who predicates his hire on certain conditions... "Fine, we'll accept your conditions if you're willing to accept that we will pay you solely for games you win." X^D *Hah!*
