08:42 AM ET 12.29 | The NHL is considering moving Winnipeg to the Western Conference's Central Division and Columbus to the Eastern Conference's Southeast Division in the event of a shortened 2013 season, according to Larry Brooks of the New York Post. A four or five month season in the Southeast Division would magnify Winnipeg's travel requirements, but a shift to the Central Division would all the Jets to play road games in their own time zone. Columbus would also benefit from an easier travel schedule playing a shorter season in the Southeast Division.

I bet Detroit will be real pleased to see someone else get moved before them.

For what the Jets were paying him (700,000) and the end result (around 50 pts, top five in team scoring and a plus in plus/minus column) I'd have to say it worked out well...Winnipeg is probably hopeful that he's stayed out of the local perogy palaces during the lockout though.

Then they should have supplied a chaperon.

The only positive is that this will improve our chances at the 1st overall pick.

I thought the Wings were best with those late picks.

They'll be REAL pleased...seriously who wants to get moved to the Eastern Conference and get beaten up every game and miss the play-offs...SERIOUSLY NOW. Me thinks Illitch bought off Bettman so that they can stay in the West.

I wouldn't go that far, but I'm sure the Wings are quite happy playing in the less-physical Western Conference...

There are a couple teams east of them that should move first (Columbus and Nashville)

I read where the Wings year to year are one of the top 3 Teams for kilometers traveled, and that due to this they want to move to the Eastern Conf.

The Flames Canucks and Oilers are always the top 3 hopefully they will land an expansion team (or relocation) in Seattle and send Minnesota to the Central and drop their mileage about 20%
