09:27 AM ET 12.29 | More teams could get a chance at the annual NHL Entry Draft's top pick under the league's latest CBA proposal. The NHL has proposed adopting a draft lottery in which "all non-Playoff teams compete for the opportunity to choose first overall." The bottom four teams (26th through 30th place) are eligible for the first overall draft pick under the league's current format.

I hope they sign Burkie to a 100 year contract. That's how much I like the Leafs!

The lottery already robbed the Blackhawks of Malkin or Ovechkin by having the Caps jump both them and the Pens...would be interesting.

Crazy thing is .... that this change in strategy is really going to hurt the Boston Bruins, not the Leafs.

I could see adding a couple of the lower teams to the draft lottery, something like the bottom 6. But all non playoff teams? Bad idea IMO

This idea of expanding the lottery pool is just a gimmick from a group bereft of ideas. Do something to grab the sucker's .. er ... fan's attention and get them excited about the league again

Even if there were only six teams when Ovie and Malkin were drafted or Lafleur and Dionne, you can't say that wouldn't have made a huge difference to the teams that landed them going forward...
