12:16 PM ET 12.29 | New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan denied a report by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News that stated he would prefer to be fired if team owner Woody Johnson was unwilling to make changes to the offense prior to next season. Published on Friday morning, Mehta reports that Ryan was likely interested in having offensive coordinator Tony Sparano relieved of his duties in favor of someone else. While stating that Ryan was interested in remaining with the team, Mehta reports that if Johnson was unwilling to make changes, Ryan would not quit but would want to be fired. In his press conference on Friday afternoon, Ryan denied the report and expressed his desire to stay with the team. Ryan also communicated that he was upset by the report and that he passionately expressed that to the team upon addressing them on Friday morning.

Truth and Rumors should just have a section devoted to the J-E-T-S. It's going to be all Jets all the time until Woody Johnson decides what to do with his expensive circus sideshow.

I'm surprised he didn't go with "I was misquoted", or "my comments were taken out of context".

We haven't had a Ryan thread in minutes, what took you so long. Still not caring!

And Rex is such a level-headed guy, not prone to rash statements or judgements. Hard to believe he'd say anything like that.

If he'd just shut his pie hole it would all stop. He must like the attention.

true on both counts!

I wish someone would explain to a simple person like me what the h@#l goes on up there in NY. I just do not get it There are bad teams (here in Jax), there are really bad teams (KC), yet nothing compares to that circus known as the jets. They only seem capable of crashing & burning weekly. Please point out a positive with a team that does have talent.
Happy New Year

FanNation/T&R is the National Enquirer/TMZ/Extra! of sports. Why should we expect anything else than "exclusive, up-to-the-minute" reports on the Jets' fiascoes? Has to be more exciting than anything the Browns' or Cardinals' woes.
