Are Eagles Jon Gruden's last chance to coach?

08:51 AM ET 12.30 | People around the NFL who know are convinced Jon Gruden is coming back to coaching this year, provided the right situation presents itself. I've been told Gruden feels he needs to come back now if he's ever going to do it. He already has been away from the game for four years, and it becomes increasingly difficult for a coach to return the longer he is away. The right situation for Gruden very well could be in Philadelphia. People close to him think he has a good chance of landing there.

Really? I guess he might but not sure why. Has his ring, makes stupid money to be on TV......

He has no reason to leave TV. He also hasn't had a mental meltdown, if he wants to coach in the next five years he probably could, but again why?

I also don't see why a team like Philadelphia should want him.
He caught lightning in a bottle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by taking over an underachieving defensive juggernaut that Tony Dungy built and giving them just enough offense to put them over the top.
But considering no head coach in the history of the NFL has won Super Bowls with two separate franchises, the chances of Jon Gruden repeating that feat are slim to none.
He then proceeded to run that team into the ground by (1) negligently allowing a once-proud defense to crumble apart and (2) obsessively stock-piling mediocre quarterbacks.

Philly fans should be scared. Gruden is an absolute fraud. As a Dallas fan I say go for it.

I'd rather take a chance on Chip Kelly... and I hate the idea of signing Chip Kelly.

Agreed. Chip Kelly scares me at the NFL level. He relies on his teams having a speed advantage over the competition. At the next level EVERYBODY can fly!

Anybody else get tired of the many different "man-crushes" Gruden has for guys in the NFL?

I can't see him getting out of that warm booth to put up with what coaches seem to have to nowadays.

Your never too old to be recast in the NFL. If joe gibbs can be brought back, then there is your answer.

Gruden is the modern day Will Rogers. He never met a quarterback he didn't like.
