09:07 AM ET 12.30 | Rumors were swirling in NFL circles Saturday that the Buffalo Bills would clean house and fire not only head coach Chan Gailey but General Manager Buddy Nix as well. However, high ranking Bills sources insisted the decision on the team's top two football men remained, as always, with owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr. and that Wilson had yet to tell any of his employees in Western New York of his verdict. Nix, contacted Saturday night, told The News he had not been given any indication of any change in his job status. There is widespread expectation among the organization that Gailey will be ousted due to the Bills' disappointing season, which concludes today against the New York Jets at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Bills (5-10) have clinched last place in the AFC East.

I know some Bills fans who are fervently hoping for this to happen

He never stays anywhere longer than two years. It's time.

He's kind of a place holder while teams search for a coach... Like Wade Phillips.

I'd hold down the fort for a couple of years at $2MM per. You know, until they found somebody who had a clue.

Nix should be the first to go. His decision to lock hips with a contract to qB Ryan Fitzpatrick??? was a franchise killer. The Mario money to one player when you need so much was stupid. That said, Chan was a lousy choice to begin with.
In the watered down NFL the Bills are not that far removed from being a wild card but it will not happen with those two in charge. Look for Jim Kelly to steer this franchise , from the sidelines, and do a good job of it.

My sister her husband and grown kids go to those games. I admire their resoluteness. so fatalistic. It is like watching the history channel showing the Napoleon's march after Waterloo.

Firing Chan Gailey has probably been as foregone a conclusion as any other.

If Buffalo wants to wallow in mediocrity for a few more seasons, then by all means, bring in Norv to run things.

How about the idea of Ralph offering a piece of the team to the right guy? I mean what the hell he can't have much time left so what does it cost him?

Maybe but I'm thinking that 25% of the team and Coach Cowher is going to start listening.
