07:36 PM ET 12.30 | Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson is still pushing for record he was seeking, but still joins an elite club today as he becomes the seventh running back in NFL history to run for over 2,000 yards in a season. Eric Dickerson's NFL record of 2,105 yards is still in reach, but in eclipsing 2,000 yards Adrian Peterson becomes the first running back since Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titansjoined the 2000 yard club in 2009.

True. But, if you were to ask him, he'd rather be in the playoffs than personal glory. Congrats to Peterson .... and to the Vikings! Can they beat the Pack twice?

13 seconds left on the clock and Minnesota has the ball with two timeouts. AD was 9 yards short of the record. I know it's all about the team, but a back like AD will get this opportunity maybe once in his career. Couldn't Frazier have called a timeout and given him one shot to get the yards?

A better team than the Bears but still I don't see the Vikes beating GB twice in a row.

I seemed to remember them only having one timeout left...but you may be right.

399 of his yards have come against the Packers. If he played Green Bay every game he'd have 3192 yards.

How many rushing yards do you see Peterson having in Green Bay?

Yeah, I thought so as well but checked twice. I know it's goofy looking for the record but stuff like that really doesn't happen too often.

Having the season he had so soon after having his knee reconstructed is nothing short of amazing... and MVP-worthy as well.

Lovie managed to coach the Bears to a victory over the Lions... but only just barely. It seems like most of Lovie's tenure can be summed up with those two words: "just barely". Maybe it is time to thank him for his time in Chicago and go in a different direction without him.

He says that now... ask him a week from now after they go one-and-done.

I think they had to make the conservative call and win the game. If they tried one more run, suppose there was a bad handoff or a fumble. No record, and no playoffs.
Always play to win, and let the records come as they may.

He's the fifth highest paid coach in the league. More is expected from someone at that level but ... he'll never reach it. Missing the playoffs two years in a row is unacceptable, especially since he was given so much say in personnel decisions. The Bears O line sucks because of him.

Congratulations to AP! He may have been 9 yards shy of the record but he still ran for over 2,000 yards the year after blowing out his ACL. The guy is a BEAST!!!!
