08:04 AM ET 12.31 | Perhaps Woody Johnson didn't want to watch the end of Gang Green's 2012 season. The Jets owner skipped his team's season finale yesterday against the Bills -- a 28-9 loss that gives them a final record of 6-10 and sends the franchise into an offseason of uncertainty. Johnson is expected to make several changes to the team with general manager Mike Tannenbaum and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano likely the first to go. Head coach Rex Ryan is expected to be brought back, but everything seems to be on the table right now. Ryan said he has been given no assurances from Johnson that he will be back. ... Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine's contract is up, and he could be leaving.

Keep Rex Ryan? Penny wise and pound foolish.

The Jests just wouldn't have been this entertaining if they had tasted any measure of success this season.

What would we have to laugh about if Rex was gone?

December 31, 2012  09:13 AM ET

As long as they keep Mr. Sanchez the circus will roll on.

I was going to say that Sanchez alone could provide enough comic relief.

Well, after signing him to that massive contract after they got caught wooing Manning, they will most likely have to keep him one more year because they'll owe him so much coin.

Tebow is so bad, he couldn't even be first out the door....

SNAKE!!

We Did It!!

The Jets need a reboot. In fairness, they had no receiving corps this year, and lost their best defender; part of that is Tannenbaum's fault.

But the problems with the offense? That's on Ryan, Sanchez and the perpetual merry-go-round at OC. Sanchez was QB when the team made it to consecutive AFC Finals just a few years ago. He has regressed since.

The team should try to trade Sanchez, just to move his contract, and try to sign Alex Smith. But they need consistency at OC too.

Bottom line: The Jets underperformed, even with a couple of injuries, because every team has those.
