08:16 AM ET 12.31 | The wait ... isn't over? [Amar'e Stoudemire, who hoped New Year's Day] would represent his return from left knee surgery, went through a full practice yesterday with some approximation of the Knicks' roster. While claiming he felt better, Stoudemire admitted he is not yet 80 percent and felt soreness on some moves. Stoudemire wants to soldier on for the banged-up Knicks. "If I got to sacrifice my health a little bit for the betterment of the team, then I will," he said. But he said he needs to see how he feels today to determine whether he plays against the Trail Blazers [Tuesday] at the Garden. "It felt pretty good," said Stoudemire, who scrimmaged with the second unit.

There are articles out there that said the Knicks were trying to give away Amare last off-season (for nothing -- would just have to fit in salary cap) -- but couldn't find any takers because of contract (uninsured).

My morning coffee tastes better thanks to that clarification, M3AT. I'm sure the troll Apple will express similar sentiments.

Morning M3AT. Pretty quiet around here this morning. I guess the evenings' alcohol-fueled exchanges are more lively.

I know..trying to keep that in mind also. Next year he moving him should be easier if we find out he doesn't fit with the new team under Woody. A lot will be determined when he comes back...but I'm not going to rush to judgment still, I'll wait about 20 games to see what's what

Even if overpaid he could still be making a positive contribution to the team. Any plus is always good. Certainly if Dolan can do nothing else he can at least absorb some extra payroll.

Heard folks making a positive out of a negative; have him come off the bench to provide the second unit with more punch?

The only player that really matters is 'Melo at this point in time.
Amare playing or not playing is simply a sideshow. So long 'Melo is healthy, Knicks will go deep into the playoffs.
Unfortunately 'melo has proven to be a fragile player. He gets hurt on frivolous plays. His pain tolerance seems to be very minimal.

Melo has 2 playoff series wins in his 10 year career. and you think its guaranteed he goes deep in the playoffs?

Nothing is guaranteed but he's never had Chandler playing center for him. This is the most talented group he's had around him and they haven't been healthy yet. With the Atlantic having a down yearthey should get a good seed. I can see them winning 2 rounds unless Melo or Chandler get hurt.
