Marlins listening to offers for Stanton

08:19 AM ET 12.31 | How much more selling do the Marlins have in them? The Marlins' higher-ups have stated over and over again that they have no intention of trading young slugger Giancarlo Stanton. But they've been taking phone calls on the matter and will continue to do so. Assistant general manager Dan Jennings told Jim Bowden of ESPN and SiriusXM on Sunday morning that the Marlins "will listen to all offers" on Stanton but that a deal is highly unlikely to take place this winter. Which basically means that the Fish would have to be blown away by an offer to consider it. The Phillies, Red Sox, Yankees, Orioles and Cubs were all known to have interest at one point. Stanton batted .290/.361/.608 with 37 home runs and 86 RBI in 123 games this past season.

Out of all of these five teams the Cubs and O's probably have more prospects to offer the Fish for Stanton.

QUOTE(#7):

I think Stanton would go absolutely berserk in Wrigley, but the Cubs are hurting so bad that they probably can't afford to shed too many prospects for one guy, no matter how good he is.

the cubs would be needdin more than just a little help from stanton, the red sox or the dodgers but the one who really need help should be rangers organization,,,

December 31, 2012  11:21 AM ET

rangers need to BRINGIN,,, MORSE from the nationals,,or Justin upton from D'BACKS,,

December 31, 2012  11:22 AM ET

or rangers should trade derek holland for ellburi to any other team,

December 31, 2012  11:25 AM ET

as a last resort the rangers could throw any type of players, could be trading some insinificant players to the rays or the pirates,,,

QUOTE(#2):

I'm sure he'd love Fenway, but he slugged over .600 in a neutral park at age 22...he should do very well and quite possibly develop into a HOF hitter in most any park, although I'm sure Yankee could put a crimp in his power. The Marlins would be stupid to not get a huge package of top prospects for this guy, although they have already proven that they are not stupid. There's no pressing reason to get rid of him, he's cheap for some time to come and could still be around when the Marlins eventually have a chance to be competitive.

stanton and logan morrinson, deserved to be a top ! players in a winning team,,,

December 31, 2012  11:28 AM ET

either the rangers or the red sox could stole the show,, bang!!

December 31, 2012  06:15 PM ET

my believe is,, the red sox would end trading for giancarlo stanton, the kid its young plus he drives in alot of R,B,I,S,,,

December 31, 2012  06:16 PM ET

a deal for logan morrinson and stanton should be expected in any tim from january to march, why not?? teams would like to be strong in their offense and in their lineup!!

December 31, 2012  06:19 PM ET

yankees would benefit greatly IF they decide to offer the right amount of players,,
