12:53 PM ET 12.31 | The New York Jets fired general manager Mike Tannenbaum on Monday. Tannenbaum had been the team's GM since the 2006 season, when he took over for Terry Bradway after spending nine years in different positions within New York's front office. Tannenbaum built the Jets squads that challenged the Patriots' supremacy in the AFC East and went to back-to-back AFC Championship games in 2009 and 2010. His fate may be most linked to quarterback Mark Sanchez, who he drafted with the fifth overall pick in 2009.

One loser supports another see ya tannenbaum, and take suckez with ya...........

Why did the Jets hire him in the first place? He was with BB in Cleveland that had horrid drafts and hired as an attorney by the Jets. Why is America so infatuated with lawyers and think they can do anything. Look at the US Congress for god's sake!

Acquiring Tebow and giving Sanchez that pricey extension were the straws that broke the camel's back.

Not to mention that Suit... Looks like a hand me down from one of the O-Linemen...

It's interesting to note that Tannenbaum's supposed strength was negotiating contracts yet he single handedly put the Jets in salary cap hell.

Sadly, the worst GM in the NFL is still in place. Hey Jerry, you may now go perform some unnatural act upon yourself,

So I guess the new GM gets to toss Ryan and clean house in general.

Supposedly, the J-E-T-S are "interested" in talking to Bill Polian about their GM vacancy. I think the interest will be one-sided, unless all they are looking for is a recommendation.

Last week there was talk that Mike T. would be retained as a cap advisor. That would have been massively counter-productive.

And keep Rex on a real short leash for 2013.

The drafting of Vernon Gholston, big contract to Bart Scott, never picking up a quality WR (aside from Santonio)...the list goes on and on..LOL

And if the STeelers were letting Holmes go for a 5th rounder they should have known to stay away. JOnes rushes for 1400 yards and is gone the next season, Edwards gets close to 1000 yards one season and he was gone the next, they overpaid considerably for Holmes once they signed him and can't cut him despite him quitting on the team last year.....The entire management staff and especially the owner are clueless
