08:05 AM ET 01.01 | A 10-win season couldn't save Lovie Smith's job. One of the first names to surface in the Bears' head coaching search is 40-year old Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, who has experienced considerable success in Denver since he assumed the role in 2009. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported Monday the Bears were granted permission to interview McCoy this upcoming weekend for their head coaching vacancy. ... ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright also reported the Bears will interview Atlanta Falcons special teams coach Keith Armstrong, according to a source. Even before Peyton Manning arrived in Denver last offseason, McCoy had built the reputation of coach who always got the most out of his quarterbacks.

It would be good to see a Bears coach with OC background for a change.

Of all the HCs fired, Lovie will get the most interest from another team. And he should.

Lovie's downfall was hiring a competent OC. The reason the D was good for so long is that they were in the same system for 9 years. The O kept changing systems yearly. The O-line was also never fixed. Bears might be kicking themselves next year and beyond if they don't make the right choice. We'll see if the D can keep up forcing TO's like they have for the past 9 years.
