Nets would give Jackson anything he wants

08:09 AM ET 01.01 | Mikhail Prokhorov turned the page quickly on Avery Johnson, leaving P.J. Carlesimo with, perhaps, Phil Jackson looking over his shoulder. The Nets are trying to play coy, and they're saying Carlesimo, who won his first two games as the interim coach, will get a real shot. But Jackson is certainly the guy who'll get the first call when and if Prokhorov decides to look elsewhere for a permanent coach. "It's Phil," says a league coaching source. "That's coming straight from Russia." ... Prokhorov will, no doubt, give Jackson anything he wants -- the paycheck, the control, the travel restrictions if Jackson wants to be a part-time head coach. But would even all of that be enough for Jackson to take a flier?

It will be interesting to see if the Zen Master himself does it simply for the money.

Not enough superstars for Phil in Brooklyn. He would actually have to do some real coaching. I do not see this happening. Plus I'm sure he has plenty of money already.

Phil has to consult with Tex Winters to make sure he can install the offense with those Nets players....

You can't say it's just money. There must be some part of him that just misses coaching and wants it back. The mere joy of being in Dolan's rectum must be appealing as well. He should take the job if his health is intact...

Phil is not helping this team reach the finals. Brooklyn can be a good team, they should be better than their record but the addition of Phil will not make them a great team.

Phony Phil is not taking any job where he doesn't have at least two players that can dominate their positions on the floor.
Given that the Nets have none, there is no way Phony Phil is going to show the world that HOF players make him, he doesn't make HOF players.
Where is his enthusiasm to coach again like when he thought he would be coaching the Lakers?
What a Phony.

You really think Phil would go to a team mid-season with a record like that if the team isn't the Lakers?

I was about to disagree when you said "If it were Kevin Durant or Lebron James I'd say yeah", because I believe a good coach is WAY more important then the pawns on the floor...but you are right that Phil is not the answer to making NJ better.

I doubt this could happen mid-season. I also have serious doubts about this roster being able to fit into the Triangle Offense.

The trade deadline is February 21st. If, very big if, the Nets are able to convince Phil that they're trading for at least one or two strong pieces it could happen. If no one is inbound then no. He's not going to a bad situation just to say he did.

If Phil takes the Nets job, who knows, Howard might be interested to come to the Nets after this season!!
