Detroit's young untouchables

08:10 AM ET 01.01 | Thanks to Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond, times have changed since the Pistons coveted DeMarcus Cousins, even if a weekend report suggested Detroit might have interest in the Kings' center. [Let's] just entertain the thought the Pistons MIGHT be interested in Cousins. The Kings would be laughed out of the league if they agreed to any deal that didn't include Monroe or [Drummond]. And let's get this out of the way -- the Pistons aren't the least bit interested in dealing away Monroe or Drummond. Drummond is untouchable and Monroe is at the level just below. A source e-mailed me with this Sunday night: "We have two, young big men -- they're 'Pistons.'" ... [While] Cousins is coming off his third suspension of the season, Monroe has been a model citizen.

As much as I like Cousins I would not trade Drummond for that dude. Monroe I think will benefit from a new coach cause Frank runs the most basic offense in the league. Drummond has surprised me. Cousins needs to go somewhere with a well respected coach and some players who will give him that tough love.

No one person or place can change anyone... he has to look inside himself for that change to come.

Maybe the Spurs can take a chance with Cousins for Splitter/Neal, gives back Sac a legit big. They can trade one of their guards for defense. Evans is likely broken both physically and mentally at this point.

Why take on someone else's headache when you don't have to. Detroit has to nice Bigs, they have no reason to deal for Cousins when all he has proven to be is a distraction. Who needs it. He's not going to take you to the next level, at least not as long as he is as immature as he has proven to be. The whole key with making trades is to get something for your value. Cousins for ither Monroe or Drummond would be a win for the Kings & Detroit would be much worse off for it. Leave well enough only, and leave DeMarcus Cousins in Sacramento.

But I'm sure somehow Dumars will find a way to screw it up.
