02:58 PM ET 01.01 | Steve Keim, the Arizona Cardinals' vice president of player personnel, is scheduled to interview this week for the San Diego Chargers' general manager job, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Chargers fired former GM A.J. Smith and head coach Norv Turner on black Monday, ending two tenures that many felt should have ended much sooner than they did. Keim has been with the Cardinals organization since May 1999, when he started as a regional scout, and has served in his current role of VP of player personnel since May 2008.

Maybe that is the real reason the Cards are not getting good draft picks because of the title of VP President of Players Personnel, which tells me they have no GM and a group calling the shots on trades and draft picks.

This is what I've never understood about the NFL coaching/front office carousel. This guy was so bad at his job that he got fired. So another team, already in bad shape, looks to hire him for essentially the same job he just got canned from.

There has to be other executives (and coaches) out there who are looking for their chance to break into the industry. You'd think a team would be better off with a relatively unknown guy with zero experience than someone who has already proven they are terrible at it.
