Saban saying no to everyone ... for now

08:00 AM ET 01.02 | Might Nick Saban be enticed to walk an NFL sideline again? NFL teams that have been inquiring about [Saban] in recent days and weeks have been told in no uncertain terms: thanks, but no thanks. At least so far. Some franchises with vacancies have sent feelers toward Saban and the Alabama camp regarding his seriousness about returning to the NFL. He has told these inquirers that he isn't coming back. ... It's unclear which teams have contacted Alabama. Several league sources say most, if not all of them, have reached out to Saban in some unofficial capacity, and Saban or his camp has been extremely clear about his intentions. This time, by saying he's staying, Saban might actually be saying what he means.

Why should Saban ever leave Bama?
He has a team contending for titles...he gets paid almost the same as NFL coaches do and he does not have to take over some sorry franchise and rebuild it.
I would stay in Bama forever if they would let me.
Kind of the same deal with Coach K in Duke...why tarnish your legacy for a volatile NFL job or in Coach K's place, a NBA gig??

A Wednesday morning rumor...and I stress that word "rumor"...is circulating that Saban will take over the reins of the Longhorns after the NC game. Anyone else hearing this?
Sounds totally absurd...MB and DD seem very well entrenched in Austin...can't see that duo breaking up without a year's worth of fanfare and publicity coming first.

Unless he gets mixed up in something like recruiting violations ( Pete Carroll ) or something else that tarnishes his reputation in College Ball and makes it impossible to recruit, and forces him to run to the NFL, then he is staying put in the life of luxury. Some of these head coaches that are master recruiters don't have to be good coaches, they have enough talent so that coaching is a secondary concern. Has Saban ever turned out a QB that won a Super Bowl ? I know that Urban Meyer and Pete Carroll never have.

A friend of mine who works for the Browns told me that Saban just visited Berea (Browns HQ) 2 days ago but it is highly unlikely that he will return to the team he once coached as defensive coordinator under Belichick back in the late 90's. I don't see him coming back to the NFL but the Browns are vetting him along with every other team (save Miami :-)
