08:17 AM ET 01.02 | For some time now, the race to become the No. 1 pick in the 2013 entry draft was thought to be a two-man show, though a new name may have entered the mix. Halifax Mooseheads whiz kid Jonathan Drouin has cemented his standing among the top contenders. ... Drouin was elevated to the top line of the Canadian junior team to play alongside Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Mark Scheifele for the final round-robin game against the host Russians. The move paid dividends. Drouin scored an early second-period goal. ... Drouin's Halifax teammate Nathan MacKinnon and Portland Winterhawks defenceman Seth Jones entered the 2012-13 season as co-favourites to be selected first overall at the NHL draft in June. Drouin, however, has skated into the picture.

so why are they talking about a draft if we haven't even got a season of any length yet?

This is going to be a great draft.

So watch the Leafs finish 8th and get swept in the first round.

It's nice to have a dream, eh Danny?

My dream is dead last. And a nice trade to draft Mackinnon and Drouin 1 and 2 so Lord Irk doesn't do something dumb like sign Getzlaf and Perry for 25 years a piece.

The Prince of Irkness would never do that Danny. They're not worn out enough quite yet.

Are you kidding me?!?!?!

Sign Getzlaf and Perry for 50 years a piece if it brings them to Toronto!

Or tank this year (if there is a year), get number the top pick, then do some trade like Grabo and a future 1st for the #2 pick. Then draft Mackinnon and Drouin. Then sign Getzlaf and Perry. Then make the playoffs. Then get swept because of crappy goaltending!

Wouldn't that be amazing!!!!

"Drouin, however, has skated into the picture."

Damn! If he did, he sure looks like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. And ... looks he skated himself into an Oilers jersey too.

The Canadiens should trade up to draft Drouin.

Unless they have another awful year and have him fall to them with a high pick. Having Therrien behind the bench will help in that regard.

The Oilers and Jackets might have something to say about that.

Drouin is certainly helping himself alot.

For me the player on team Canada that has really impressed me the most is Ouellet, he's looking like a steal as a 2nd round pick.

Why Argos ? Having 3 Stars and no one else has not exactly set Cup records in Anaheim ?

And wasn't Conz one of the best goalies in WJC history for the Swiss?

Meanwhile, he went undrafted twice. He has now played two years in the top Swiss league, and been dominate there too (.932 SV% this year), yet he seems to be on no ones radar.
