04:16 PM ET 01.02 | If Chip Kelly ends up becoming a NFL coach (he's reportedly a hot target for both the Eagles and Browns), those covering pro football will need to become familiar with both his offense (which is not the pistol, as he'll remind you) and with his brisk wit, which often takes the form of swift sarcasm.

(Yawn) Huh?

Umm... ok.

January 2, 2013  04:29 PM ET

The NFL will chew him up and spit him out

January 2, 2013  04:43 PM ET

Brisk wit? In the NFL? Not seeing it...

Could be, but again, who knows, PC is going pretty well with the Seahawks!!!!

I dont know if CK will make it in the NFL or not but I sure would like to see someone give him a shot. Not only becasue I want him to leave Oregon but also becasue I'd like to see his fast-paced offense with elite athletes. The spread/zone-read is making inroads in the NFL only being used sparingly thus far. I'd like to see a team try it full-time and fully commit to his system. It might make a few more NFL games watchable for me anyway.

Yeah I would also like to see Chip get his chance in the NFL, if that is what he really wants, It will be interesting if he leaves. Just wondering if Oregon will offer the job to Chris Petersen, as he was an assistant there years ago and said he really liked the area.

seems like everyone assumes CP would get the offer, and maybe he will, but the local media seem pretty convinced that the OC Mark Helfrich would get the job.

Oh yeah, OC Mark Helfrich is doing a damn good job!!! Maybe either Mark or Chris can take the USC job, as LK's A-S-S is getting pretty damn hot!!! :-)

I'd like to see it too...but they better get a stable full of QBs that can run it because injuries will certainly occur.

Very good post and I feel pretty much the same way.

This.

Chip Kelly has built a VERY impressive offensive machine at Duck U, but that offense is not going to work in the League. NFL defenses are too big and too fast for his offense to work with any regularity, and his QB's are going to get beaten to death.

Who says Chip Kelly will run the Oregon offense in the NFL?
And who cares about the darn sports writers anyway?

I agree and that is why IMO, Chip should stay at Oregon!!!
