05:07 PM ET 01.02 | The Trojans have had their fourth de-commitment from the Class of 2013, as Sebastian LaRue out of Santa Monica announced via Twitter this afternoon that he had de-committed from USC. Despite being committed since back in July, LaRue had long been considered to be a defector to Lane Kiffin's recruiting class, as he's flirted with multiple schools including Washington State, Notre Dame and Texas A&M. The Trojans have set a Jan. 18 date for their group official visit for committed players. However, LaRue scheduled a trip to College Station that weekend to visit with Kevin Sumlin's Texas A&M Aggies, all but eliminating the effect of the Sun Bowl loss to Georgia Tech on Monday. LaRue was one of 13 USC commitments currently at the Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Tex. Without LaRue, the Trojans now have just one receiver currently on board for 2013, and that is 4-star Steven Mitchell out of Alemany.

I don't blame him after that Sun Bowl performance.

I agree, it was much worse than that perforance by Florida in the Sugar Bowl last night. Damn the Gators looked terrible. At least USC was not a ranked team!!! What was Florida ranked #3???

Is he good enough for the Irish? If he can be a factor like that other prominent USC-defector (Mr Teo) we'll gladly take him.

This will really hurt USC, especially if Woods decides to enter the draft...

I'm sure he is a very good player and would help the Irish. The article stated: "Despite being committed since back in July, LaRue had long be considered to be a defector to Lane Kiffin's recruiting class, as he's flirted with multiple schools including Washington State, Notre Dame and Texas A&M". Good luck to the kid!!! By the way, I'm still taking the 10 points and ND next Monday!!! :-)

After watching the bowl games the past week I have felt a twinge in my attitude for monday night as well. I believe I will take the points but still believe Bama will find a way to win....

Yeah, the NCG is a tough one to figure out. Most of the Bowl games have been weird this season. I watch Florida get the asses handed to them last night and really the game wasn't as close as the final score.

It appears the USC is beginning to experience the inevitable disillusionment of recruiting prospects that follows NCAA recrutiing sanctions and resulting poor performance on the field due to a lack of depth. There was no "Next man up" at USC this year, and it showed!
Not sure what the Trojans can do to turn this around in the short term. It may take a few years, and perhaps a coaching change, to get back to BCS level. Next season's QB situation should be a real concern to USC fans.

Not really. WR is our deepest position group. Lee, Agholor, Blackwell, Farmer, Rogers are returning guys. Plus the kid coming in is an absolute burner.
The play of Wittek during the bowl is a bit of a concern, especially since he played pretty well against the domers. It does open the door for Browne. Plus it looks like we will have a good stable of RB's so we will definitely run the ball more.
As for the de-commits, I expected 3-5 would. Massington and LaRue never really figured into the equation really. Just means we will pull other kids in. I still expect a damn good class.

ICE, I watched the Sugar Bowl last night and they said that the Gators had quite a few freshman on their roster and I thought of USC, they have a lot of young players on their roster, so I guess it's wait until next year. I have been surprised at most of the bowl games this year. USC and Florida looked like Crap!!!!

I'm certain that the Sunbowl performance doesn't help recruiting, but USCw's recruiting can take a hit and still be strong. Afterall, it is USCw. The appeal cannot be quashed by one poor Bowl performance.

Actually the article stated "LaRue had long be considered to be a defector to Lane Kiffin's recruiting class". Could be he was worried about playing time next year!!!

OT, comparing USCw and UF just doesn't work. It's like trying to relate avocados to oranges. Let it go.

SF, good point and we all knew that the NCAA recruiting sanctions would/will take it's toll on USC's depth, but what excuse can we make for Florida's play last night???? Is Louisville really that good??

Tin Man, I will have a real hard time letting Florida piss poor performance last night go!!! We have been discussing USC for the last year and most of us have agreed that the recruiting sanctions was going to take its tool on their depth, so that's old news!!!! IMO, will have to "let the USC depth problem go".
