Rams can Williams

05:13 PM ET 01.02 | The St. Louis Rams fired linebacker coach Blake Williams and his father, suspended defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. The latter has not been reinstated by the NFL yet, following his indefinite suspension for his role in the Saints bounty program. Blake arrived in St. Louis with his father Gregg Williams, who'd been hired by Jeff Fisher as the Rams defensive coordinator. When the elder Williams fell from grace due to his involvement in the New Orleans Saints "bounty" scandal, the Rams never filled the coordinator void. Instead, Fisher and his staff managed the role by committee. The 27 year old Blake handled defensive play calling duties for the most part, but little is known whether he developed game day defensive schemes.

With Jeff Fisher as coach, I doubt Williams was doing much development of his own.

Fisher probably figured out that the Rams defense did pretty well without Gregg Williams so got rid of him and his son. The team had three former D-Coordinators on their staff as it was. Smart move if you ask me. This team is improving - no need for the additional drama.

Fisher and Williams go way back. I wonder if they got wind that the Great Commissioner wasnt going to reinstate Williams any time soon.

based on what? it only says he arrived with his father and that he handled defensive play calling duties....hardly something on which you can judge his character. It doesn't even say why he was fired. We can assume it's because of his father, which may mean nothing negative about him personally...
