05:26 PM ET 01.02 | ESPN's "Monday Night Football" analyst Jon Gruden has yet to schedule any interviews for vacant head coaching positions in the NFL, according to a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL.com on Wednesday afternoon. Gruden has been rumored as being in high-demand to return to the NFL. Having last coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008, Gruden was hired by ESPN in 2009 to join the "Monday Night Football" booth. Since then, he has gained acclaim and anticipation for an eventual return to the NFL has grown. With seven vacancies in the NFL, his name has commonly surfaced as a possibility.

The best thing that could happen is to have none of these teams contact Gruden for their head coaching position. Don't feed this guy's ego, and maybe he'll just go away. I'm tired of hearing his name mentioned for every single college or NFL coaching position.

Some desperate team will contact him.

I question how much fire he has in the belly and if he has been out too long (the Cowher effect).

Yeah, but someone will call him......(that might be a good thing if it gets him off MNF)

Right now he's undefeated and has the fire in his belly, if he does sign a contract will he be honest to the press?will he maintain that handsome smile? Will he bark at his wife and kids? I think it's better to be undeafeated and smile like John Madden did!!!

He's got the best job in football right now and he's making $4.2MM a year. He doesn't work more than two or three days a week and the ONLY pressure he has is to say something witty during the game. How freakin' hard can that be? I'd ride that horse absolutely as long as I could. Great gig!

He was born a coach...his fire will never die until he does...he'll be back

I heard he's managed to set up an interview for himself on ESPN II. Not clear who'll be interviewing him yet.

A legend, in his own mind.

It sounds like Gruden himself has done nothing to fuel any of the rumors about himself and any coaching vacancies. Maybe the "journalists" who come up with this drivel should stop pulling this stuff out of their arses and wait until there is actually something to write about for a change.

Who is spreading these rumors, his agent? Remember at Tampa Bay when he carry 3 QBs and could not groom any of them. No team is after him as coach when there are many up and coming assistant coaches that can be hire.

Good idea.

Gruden moved to the right team at the right time.
