08:13 AM ET 01.03 | Free agent Lance Berkman may not be done just yet. [Berkman] still has not decided that he will play in 2013. But he is talking about a possible return with multiple clubs, including the Texas Rangers, major-league sources say. Berkman's hometown team, the Houston Astros, remains open to bringing him back, even after signing free-agent first baseman Carlos Pena. But the Rangers stand a much better chance than the Astros of competing in the AL West next season. Either team could use Berkman as a designated hitter, the role that suits him best at this stage of his career. Berkman, 36, injured his left calf and underwent two surgeries on his right knee last season, appearing in only 32 games for the St. Louis Cardinals.

It is a no brainer, do you want to be on a team that is going to lose 90 games or be on a team that has a chance to be in the playoffs this season.

well it has be with a different type of perspectives, one if the money from houston its better than the rangers/ two, if the rangers offer better cash availability and IF they aren't too greedy with quality players,,, rangers still a number # 1 as a prospects collector team,,

the water would be flowing either way, chances are, the astros could win more games than in the natinal league, but it all depends WHO would be at the front seat,,,

the mariners would try to avoid been the latter for the astros,,, but rangers angels and A's would try to keep up their homework at their close range,,,in their west division,,,

I hope he goes with Texas and has a great year. He was great for the Cardinals in 2011 on the field and in the clubhouse.

Agreed. Texas would be a good fit. Split time with Moreland at first, DH some, play OF in a pinch.
