08:14 AM ET 01.03 | Edwin Jackson, as the saying goes, is "well-traveled." After playing for seven teams in 10 seasons, [Jackson] hopes he finally has found a baseball home with the Cubs. Of course, with the Cubs' recent sign-and-trade strategy, Jackson may not want to unpack his suitcases permanently, even though Cubs' management insists his four-year contract is a long-term part of their massive rebuilding project. "We want to put a great team on the field every year and we've also been clear that we're building for something that we think is very special," general manager Jed Hoyer said Wednesday at the team's unveiling of their $52-million investment. "We wanted to make sure any free agent signings of this magnitude fit into that plan.

The Cubs and Jackson should fit right in with each other in the length of his contract, he is a career 500 pitcher and the Cubs will try to get there in the next four years.

The Cubbies are going to miss having Houston in their own division.

Given the half life of recent Theo recruits in Beantown, I'd say Mr. Jackson needs to live out of his suitcase.

QUOTE(#1):

After you pitch a no-hitter and lose because the Cubbies made 7 errors behind you, head over to The Ginger Man and have a brew while you count your money for consolation, Edwin.

that's but it, jackson shouldn't worried at all the contract has been signed and whatever happenes oh well happens but nobody would take his 52 millions deal away,,,

January 3, 2013  11:51 AM ET

either, pitcher good or pitch poor so what?? cubs can't do nothing about the poor performance from jackson before or after, plus he has 4 years to pitch one good year if at most,,,

January 3, 2013  11:53 AM ET

if the cubs were really serious in building a top team, then they should have signed top players, from dominican republic/puerto rico/ cuba/venezuela/ japan/korea/,,,but the franchise is just wondering around without any positive results!!!

we may have to ask SELIG for a switch in teams in the central division,,, twins to the national central division, and cubs to the american central division,,, problem solved,,,

Stop pretending to be John Wayne Gacy, you clown.

At the rate Theo is rebuilding the Cubbies, it's going to take at least another 20 years. Good thing Cubbie fans are so patient!

Maybe only 95 losses. They are going to be last in the NL Central, anyway.
