06:20 PM ET 01.03 | Did the Sacramento Kings pass on Damian Lillard because of finances? USA Today's Sam Amick is reporting that was part of the reality of the situation. Sacramento's front-office was high on Lillard, but the Kings ultimately selected Thomas Robinson in part because he could be insurance in case free-agent forward Jason Thompson asked for more money than the Maloofs were willing to pay. Lillard, of course, is the frontrunner for rookie of the year, while Robinson has stuggled and Isaiah Thomas, Jimmer Fredette and Aaron Brooks have split point-guard duties.
