Westbrook too obsessed with beating the Heat

08:13 AM ET 01.04 | Simply, Russell Westbrook wants to beat the Miami Heat. He might just want it too much. A league source who knows Russ well believes that for the Thunder to avenge their loss to the Heat in last year's Finals, Westbrook can't go to his reflex, which is to take matters into his own hands when the game gets wobbly. It is a reflex that makes him both a great player and a highly criticized point guard. ... "Russell has to trust his teammates more," the source said. "He does in most other games, but he just wants to win so bad against Miami, he doesn't as much." The Thunder are convinced they are, or can be, better than the team that went to the Finals last season and come out on top should they meet the Heat there again.

QUOTE(#4):

Great competitor but his stubborn streak hurts his team at times. He will neglect other teammates who are shooting better in order to try and shoot himself out of his slump. He's also showing some hot headed moments the last couple of years. Hopefully he harnesses that before it hurts his team.Definitely a top 3 PG.

He's still learning to be a great point guard. I hope he can use the rest of the season to figure out how to trust. But I think a more viable option will be to get Maynor to run the point and unleash Westbrook at the 2...

But, isn't that a good thing? You never want to overlook an opponent. But, lets be honest here. Nobody wil present a serious threat to this team in the West, barring a trade or an injury.

The MIGHTY RAPTORS will defeat all in their way, my dear.

The Heat or a better matchup for RW over Durant on this occasion. With Chalmers or even Wade guarding him is a better match up than LBJ v Durant. This is the only time I would choose RW over Durant in a game.

Durant prefers to guard Chalmers though...as was seen by game 3 of the finals and beyond...
The thunder take too many questionable shots and Westbrook is a headcase.
Heck even Durant got ejected the other day vs the nets....
Ibaka has improved sure, but without that low post scoring that Perkins does not provide the thunder will fall again.
They need to acquire Chris Kaman in free agency next season.

The lakers or clippers provide a more entertaining matchup vs the heat in the finals.
OKC have already been figured out and they will fall again.

He shoots the ball too damn much. 40%? He must want to get compared to Mr. Iverson.

Unlike Westbrook though Iverson was the best player on his team....
