Oklahoma out to puncture SEC's superiority complex

08:21 AM ET 01.04 | Oklahoma's opponent is both familiar and, thanks to its new SEC affiliation, in some ways foreign. Now the Sooners face their first SEC foe since that Florida game, Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl on Friday night, and make no mistake. This is a game for conference pride and conference honor. The SEC has won six straight national championships and bathes in a superiority complex. "I think whatever conference you play in, there's always pride, especially when it comes to bowl season," said OU split end Justin Brown. ... Notre Dame could do the most damage to the SEC's status with a Big Bowl upset of Alabama, but OU can help while also retaining some Big 12 honor with a victory over the SEC school that got away.

He must not have been watching some of the afterbirths referred to as games that we've witnessed this bowl season. Not only have some of the schools not played for conference pride, they haven't even played for school or personal pride. JMO

hence why I've watched about 15 minutes of bowl game ball altogether this season.

There are plenty of sports hacks that don't feel that the maximum effect of kicking the SEC has been reached yet. They may well get more fuel for their fire before all is said and done.

Some of us who root for our alma maters which happen to be in the SEC refrain from the SEC! SEC! blather and should not be targeted by the sniping fans of other non-SEC schools who've bought into the sports hacks stream of provocation. Doubt me? Then please explain just what would motivate Tennessee fans to crow about the Vols or the SEC during these past few years...

These are the same hacks who filled their columns with SEC! SEC! nonsense for the past decade.

Funny how SEC's 'dominance' stems from one ex-Big 12 school...A&M. Looks like that's the SEC's problem now. Have fun with the team that can't win a bowl game!

South Carolina vs Michigan was a good game, imo. Spurrier in a rare moment of candor said, "We usually don't win these close games like this."

SEC's 'dominance' stems from six straight BCS titles and the highest winning percentage in BCS bowl games.

Would you have liked to see LSU/OU? I would have.
We've seen TAMU/OU games every year since the inception of the Big 12!
