05:36 PM ET 01.04 | Continuing in this series, here's a look at one which midfielders should consider joining or leaving MLS. Instead of creating a laundry list of players that should leave or join MLS, I decided to focus on one player for each category. As I've mentioned before in the keeper edition, defender edition, and midfielder edition, with the transfer window a couple of weeks away, there will be lots of rumors about players moving clubs. With February qualifiers not too far away, there will be players in (as well as on the buddle) of the USMNT player pool that will be making moves. Who should leave MLS to enhance his status and in turn enhance the USMNT Player Pool? A: Landon Donovan Yes, he might quit playing soccer (and who could blame him since he's been playing as a pro for almost 14 years), but I'm really hoping that moving to Europe -- specifically Everton -- in the English Premier League will light a fire under him and then he can retire -- at least from international play -- after the 2014 World Cup (if the U.S. makes it- I'm not trying to jinx them). He loved his time over there and while the press is vicious for a soccer player, he wouldn't have the split entirely on him.
