Former NFL GM: Joe Flacco's not an elite QB

07:30 PM ET 01.04 | Joe Flacco has gotten his fair share of flack over the years for not bringing more success to Baltimore. Sure, Flacco has consistently made the playoffs as a quarterback and has managed to not completely destroy the Ravens offense, but he's never played in a Super Bowl, and he's never come up big in tight situations. He also happens to be in the era of the quarterback, where Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Matt Ryan, among others, rule the league. Flacco is on one of the better teams in the NFL, but according to one former general manager, it's his status as a quarterback that might be holding the Ravens back and that status is not an elite one. Charley Casserly, the man who brought us David Carr, doesn't think Flacco is an elite quarterback who deserves elite dollars.

When a guy brings his team to The Playoffs Every Year that he's played and won at least one Game, he's doing his job! No other quarterback can make that Statement 5 Years, 5 Playoffs!!!

Flacco is not elite ... duh! Who thinks he is? In 9 post-season games, he's completed over 57% just twice. And he's only thrown for over 200 yards twice.
Career post season stats: 54.1% completion, 8 TDs, 8 INTs, 70.4 QB rating. That's the definition of mediocre.

Flacco is not the reason the Ravens have made it to the playoffs. Imagine the Ravens with Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Roethlisberger or Ryan. Yeah, Flacco's not elite.

Flacco does not have to be elite. He simply has to not make mistakes to cost the game, and the defense will do the rest. That's how Baltimore won Super Bowl XXXV. Trent Dilfer is probably the worst QB to have ever played in a Super Bowl.

5 games into this season and pundits were raving about Flacco and the Ravens offense then they went away from the no-huddle that was where their success was (the reason their OC got the heave-ho) and they sputtered through the mid portion of their schedule. Now they have re-instituted their no-huddle. Guess we'll find out

Ryan please playoff wins (his next will be his first) 0. Roethlisberger yeah he's got a matching set of rings but he was a game manager in his first and without their D which was on par with the Ravens (or close) He'd be a very good but not great QB (kinda like Eli)

Yes, because when we think of Baltimore's success, we think of their quarterbacks. :P

For your information before Flacco the ravens made it to the playoffs 3 out of seven years!! He's without question the reason they made it, he doesn't drop passes or miss field Goals!!!

Flacco has played only 5 Season and has won a game in each of his first four playoffs, he has a better winning percentage than Peyton Manning in the playoffs, don't go by passing record you have to manage the game in the playoffs!
