Bulls claim Daequan Cook off waivers from Rockets

07:52 PM ET 01.04 | The Chicago Bulls have made a roster move, but it's one that is genuinely surprising. Not that Daequan Cook is a bad player, but rather the Bulls roster move involved adding a contract rather than shedding one. After being waived by the Houston Rockets, the Bulls have officially signed guard Daequan Cook. Chicago has been looking to fill the scoring void left by Derrick Rose since the season started. With recent offensive struggles against, most notably, the Charlotte Bobcats, something needed to be done. With Kirk Hinrich battling injuries, it appeared clear that the Bulls needed to add another guard to keep the backcourt as fresh as possible. He's not a lights-out player, but the Bulls just need someone to help them score some points. Rose's three ball, as well as the deep ball from Kyle Korver, has been sorely missed this season, and Chicago hopes that Cook can provide some relief to their scoring pains.

I seriously do not get why the Bulls got scrub players like Hinrich and Bellineli.
I would have signed Oj mayo on the spot, let Nate robinson run the point, meanwhile you got Teague as a backup.
It definitely won't go as smooth from the start but let those guys make minutes, let Teague develop himself, let Butler develop himself and you got a great team.
PG: Nate/Teague
SG: Oj Mayo
SF: Deng
PF: Boozer (trade him or not)/ Gibson
C: Noah/...
I would be such a great GM.

"He has that look in his eye every fourth quarter," Miles said of Irving. "In the Brooklyn game he walked into the huddle and told us 'The fourth quarter is mine.' What am I going to say, 'No?' But he's been a fourth-quarter guy since he's been in the league. He has a mental thing where he has another level, another gear which helps him make big shots."
Charlotte's Gerald Henderson said it's difficult to stop Irving in that type of game-winning situation.
"It's tough because you never know what shot he is going to take," Henderson said. "He can make any shot. So, you know how good he is off the dribble so you want to give him a little cushion, but you can't really give him that much because you know he can shoot the lights out of the ball.
"You just have to toy with him and move your feet and guess a little bit and also rely on help from your teammates but he is special. He really is special because he can score in so many ways."

Cook is another example of a player who should have stayed in college for a couple of more years to develop his all-round game.

When Heinrich was hurt and Nate had to play big minutes, there was a big drop in talent when Nate left the floor. They needed a better third string guard.
You don't really know what you are going to get from Rose so you have to prepare for the playoffs.

Hinrich...not so much. But Bellinelli has been big for the Bulls (especially as of late) providing some much needed scoring.
Cook will be a decent addition. Another role player who can't do much by the way of creating offense, but he can knock down open shots and will play hard defensively.

I think the guy who wants to be a GM has it right. Guys like Mayo....who i think is overrated, but would have been better than what they had, but also Carlos Delfino. That seemed a no brainer. The bulls made some odd roster moves, its true. Bellinni is streaky........and his defense leaves a lot to be desired. Heinrich is very good, but he's been dinged up all season.

Amen. And Belinelli has been solid this year. Until these past 2 games he had about a dozen very solid games in a row. Mind you I'm not a Bulls fan. Just a basketball fan that happened to look at his stats recently as a deep roster addition to my fantasy team.
